I am the third generation of our family in running a fruit and vegetable business. My Grandfather and Grandmother first started their business in 1964, opening a shop in Wellingborough, Northants known as Valley Fruiterers. They also had market stalls in Wellingborough, Stoney Stratford and St Neots. From there they moved their business to Croxley Green in Hertfordshire in 1966 and increased their trade by taking on additional market stalls in Bletchley and Tring.

In 1975 they decided to 'Retire' and sold the business and moved to Newark in Nottinghamshire. My Grandfather who was still very active spotted a run down shop with accommodation for sale in the town and decided it would be an ideal location for a Greengrocers so out of retirement he came. My Grandmother decided that she preferred retirement and as jobs were hard to come by in the late 70's my Uncle took her place. The business was very successful and with my Grandfather always looking for a new challenge he decided to convert the accommodation into a Guest House as the rooms were sitting there empty. The Guest House known as Cosy Croft opened In November 1978 with my Mother taking on the running of the Guest House as well as helping with the Greengrocers.
Eventually the Guest House with its 33 rooms was so successful that the family decided to concentrate all their energies into running the guest house, the decision had to be made to close the greengrocers and rent the shop out to another business.

So here I am all these years later running my own Fruit and Vegetable business as they say 'It must be in the blood'
